What if I have issues with my
Recovery Coach

It is important to remember that your recovery journey is a personal one, and having a strong support system is essential to achieving your goals. If you are facing challenges with your psychosocial recovery coach or if you don't feel comfortable with your assigned coach, you have options available to resolve these concerns.

1. Communicate Your Concerns
The first step to addressing any issue is open communication. Arrange a meeting with your coach to discuss your concerns and feelings. Be honest about your needs and expectations and try to find common ground to improve the relationship. Remember, recovery coaches, are trained professionals who want to support you, so they may be open to adjusting their approach to better suit your needs.

2. Seek Peer Support
Sometimes, talking to someone who has been through a similar experience can be helpful. Reach out to local support groups or online forums specific to your needs and recovery journey. Sharing your concerns with like-minded individuals can provide you with valuable insights and practical advice on how to handle the situation with your psychosocial recovery coach.

3. Consult with Your LAC or NDIS Planner
If you're still finding it difficult to work with your assigned recovery coach, you can consult with your NDIS planner. They will be able to provide guidance and explore alternative solutions. This could include reviewing your NDIS plan to ensure it accurately reflects your needs, preferences, and goals, or suggesting alternative support providers.

4. Request a Change of Coach
In some cases, it might be necessary to request a change of coach. This is an option available to NDIS participants, and it is important to prioritise your comfort and well-being during the recovery process. Contact your current support provider to request a change and explain your reasons for doing so. Be mindful of the potential waiting period for a new coach, as this could impact your recovery journey.

Remember, your well-being and recovery goals should always be the priority. Don't hesitate to advocate for yourself and take the necessary steps to ensure you have the right support system in place. The NDIS is committed to providing individuals with the best possible assistance and resources to achieve their goals, so make use of the available options to find the right psychosocial recovery coach for you.
